Does this tour go to Whitehaven Beach?
This day tour does not go to Whitehaven Beach- see map for
sample itinerary and
anchorages chosen each day depending on daily weather conditions.
Are transfers to Coral Sea Marina included?
Transfers or pick ups to the marina are NOT provided- Airlie Beach main street is only a
short scenic walk along the bicentennial boardwalk- very close to central accommodation. If
you are staying just out of town you can head into Airlie Beach via
local buses or call a taxi 131 008.
There is also UBER available.
Can we still travel if we do not want get in the water?
Absolutely!
Wings III is a 60ft air conditioned sailing catamaran with multiple areas to relax onboard
and soak up the beauty of the islands while enjoy the journey across the Whitsundays passage.
You can choose to do all activities or none at all and simply just enjoy yacht life and the
natural island beauty.
Can we snorkel if we cannot swim or tread water?
No sorry if you cannot swim you are not allowed to enter the water on this tour. If you are a
poor swimmer we have extra buoyancy flotation that you are required to wear and there is
noodles for you to use for extra safety- but you do still need to have understanding and be
confident in the water.
Please fill out your swimming capabilities on your waiver correctly so we can keep you
safe in the water at all times. We have noodles onboard and buoyancy jackets for extra
flotation if required.
Do you have stinger suits onboard?
We use high quality wetsuits and have many sizes all ready to go onboard. Wetsuits are great
for extra warmth, buoyancy and protect you from not only stingers but will protect you from
the sun- we highly recommend guests wear them.
So it's not stinger season- do we really need to wear a
wetsuit?
We highly recommend guests wear a wetsuit any time of year as there has been sightings of
stingers in the Whitsundays outside of the typical season- if the waters are cooler a wetsuit
will allow you to spend ample time in the water and stay warm.
Do you still go out if it is raining?
Yes this tour can still depart if it is a rainy day. Sometimes the Whitsundays is not always
picture perfect but a few showers of rain is totally ok to travel, there is a full undercover
back deck and multiple inside seating areas. The fish below don't know it is raining and
you can still snorkel! If weather conditions are cyclonic or gale force winds then we would
cancel the tour the day prior.
Does this tour still go if it is windy?
Yes Wings III can handle windy conditions- once you cross the Whitsunday passage the boat
would anchor or moor in a more protected area if it was a particularly windy day. Makes for a
great sail experience! If you think you may feel se sick than we recommend to take sea sick
tablets prior to boarding. These can be purchased at a chemist or at the kiosk near the
marina meeting point.
Will I get sea sick?
Not likely but if you are concerned in any way you should always take sea sick tablets- once
onboard if the feeling comes on taking a tablet would do nothing so best to be prepared! Keep
in mind they can make you a bit sleepy but you can have a snooze onboard if you wish!
How long is the journey to the first stop?
It takes Wings III about an 1 hour and a half to get to the first anchorage stop for
snorkelling activity- then we head to a different area to enjoy. Lunch onboard and then 1
hour and a half epic sail home!
Do you sell any soft drink or alcohol onboard?
No sorry we do not sell any drinks onboard as we are not licensed- you have the flexibility
to bring onboard your drinks of choice. We have large refrigeration onboard for your BYO
drinks, cups & wine flutes for use- just ask our friendly crew!
Do we need to brink eskies?
No we have large cold refrigeration onboard for any drinks that you BYO on the day
Should we bring extra food?
No all food is included- we serve freshly prepared morning tea platters as
soon as we depart that are a sweet and savoury choice to take a plate and relax on the
journey to the islands. Then once all water activities are completed we also serve a tropical
buffet style lunch with a selection of cold meats and tropical North Queensland salmon, fresh
salad platter & many condiments to build a delicious wrap- there is also a vegetarian
option ( please notify prior)
- If you did want to bring something extra you can but there is plenty of food for the 6 hour
tour so you will be full!
We are arriving on a cruise ship- is this tour suitable?
That can really depend on your cruise ship arrival time and the time for the last tender.
This tour is one of the only tours that works for most arriving ships but definitely not all
of them. There are 2 cruise ships ports in Airlie Beach. One is fairly close to the main
street of Airlie and the other is 25 minutes out of town at Shute Harbour so it takes a lot
more travel time.
*Cruise Ships: Please note if you are travelling to the
Whitsundays on a cruise ship, the timings of this charter do not always align with visiting
cruise ship schedules- if your cruise ship tender leaves Port of Airlie Marina or Shute
Harbour before 3:45pm. Please check this with your cruise ship before booking. See helpful
article here about where the cruise ships dock at Port of Airlie Marina or Shute Harbour
Marina and how to get to Coral Sea Marina for our daily tour.
** Cruise Ship guests- please note if your cruise ship tenders
are late or do not make it to shore for any reason you forfeit your tour and will need to
claim the loss on travel insurance.
To avoid disappointment, please check the details of your
embark and disembark times with your cruise ship thoroughly before booking.
We missed our meeting time and tour because we were late, now what happens?
Unfortunately if you miss your tour for any reason on the day you fully forfeit the fare. You
could claim the loss on travel insurance.
